Because You Do, Because You Are by Tina Gibson

I’m back at the bench, God.

Yeah
that same ole one.

Where I wallow
and wonder
where you are
again.

Where I weep
and wrestle
with
your will be done
again.

Where I
just
wanna
feel your presence, Lord.

I expect
your tangible
to earn
my trust.

As if the leaves that swirl
and
the breeze that plays
and
the breath that brings
life
to my lamenting
isn't enough.

Forgive my selfishness
Father.

Gather
the clutter
that consumes me.

Those
twisted thoughts
knotted
like
left-behind
necklaces
tossed away
before
I even try.

Untangle me, Savior.

You are here.
You are holy.
You are love.

Love that died for me.
Love that lives for me.
Love that never ends.

No lie.

Remind me
I don't need
to see
a speck of
tomorrow.

Because you do.

Because you are.

So
even though
my surrender
may merely
last a second
you still wait for me.

On a bench
or
wherever I wander.

My mess
doesn’t
make you
love me
any less.

Quite the opposite.

You adore your daughter anyway.

I am a storyteller from way back
Slippers in every season
Coffee that looks like winter
Convinced that everything has a reason
Even when I don’t understand.

I am less days ahead than behind
Still growing
Wisdom seeker
Wisdom finder
Love matters more
God matters most.

Life is no longer all about me.

I am also a former marketing VP who delightfully traded her comfort in the corporate world for something way more amazing…the opportunity to share my writing to encourage another soul for Jesus through my blog posts as well as my poems and ponder.
