The Pause Before The Prayer by Noelle Cottom

The sound of peace and stillness
A melody of sweetness and beauty
Not of panic nor despair

You’ve been singing over us this whole time
Give us ears to hear
Remove the noise of busy
And your voice becomes ever clear

The pause before the prayer
Give us eyes to see
Why and what we were made for
Your original vision for humanity

Teach us how to live
Its a time of new beginnings
Let us breathe deep, that fresh air

Let us shed the old pace
The burden of that endless race
A time to reflect
Our attention towards you

To those who don’t see the blessing, but only the fear
Our suffering is not in vain
Sickness sets the stage
For healing to take place

The world may fall around me
And through it, bring people to their knees
In that quiet stillness
Both postures of prayer
Both postures to hear

Noelle has been writing poetry since her teenage years. It’s always been an emotional and creative outlet for her. When she’s not writing, she’s playing music, or out hiking in Nature. She loves exploring and reflecting on the beauty of God’s creation.
