Sabbath by Carson Cawthon

It takes practice to
resurrect.

To sit so still you hear
your own breath return to
your body.

To notice beauty without
hating it isn’t yours.

To drink the cup of knowledge
but stop when you’ve had your fill.

To acknowledge
maybe these bones can break
but they can also heal.

Carson Cawthon is a human first and a writer second. She has been published in The Ivy Leaves Journal For Literature and Art, where she was selected as a featured poet, as well as in The Opal Literary Magazine.
