Laughter can Echo to Monday by Lee Kiblinger

Laughter can echo
to Monday,
the wave born from
Sabbath liturgy,
resounding in song,
then fed with
bread broken
at the table of love.

Peals reach across
the tired carpet,
cheerful chortles,
girlish giggles
ripple past
unmade memories
of tomorrow
and its thistles.

Wellsprings of glee
glimmer across
the room into dusky
Sunday dreams,
past the midnight hours,
of dread and silence,
like a hymn,
giving hope
to Monday’s unknown.

Lee Kiblinger is from Tyler, Texas, and lives with her three beautiful teenagers and husband of over twenty years. She teaches high school literature and composition and currently spends her free time writing poetry.
