I Cannot Be That Place by Jordan Sleed

I cannot be that place

But, I can become

Like a painting from it

And like a painting, give to you

And you, to me.

You’ll know that I cannot give

All that you desire, but

I can walk in the direction

Of the place that can.

Despite being named after the greatest basketball player of all time, I ended up abandoning my NBA dreams when I got into music. Thankfully, writing became my entry to prayer. Now, you can find me writing poetry while looking into the distance, or making jokes my wife won’t find funny. For more of my writings, visit rediscoveringholiness.com.
