Heart of a Mama by Dawn Kopa

There's a common heartbeat
in mothers everywhere
It's not bound by culture or geography or time
It's universal
So universal that it's even seen in Mary
the mother of the Savior of the world, Jesus
when she couldn't find her child
and was moved about in frantic concern
for his whereabouts and wellbeing
This expression of hers has been echoed by the hearts of mothers
everywhere
ever since

It's equal parts

FIERCE.
and fragile.
STRONG.
and subtle.
DEEP.
and delicate.
TENACIOUS.
and tender.
CARING.
and candid.
WONDERFUL.
and willing to be inconvenienced.
SELFLESS.
and oh so full of sacrifice.
VICTORIOUS.
and vulnerable.
FULL.
of worries, cares, concerns, fears, and hurts.
BUT.
none of that ever trumps the fullness of joy, love, fulfillment, reward, and pleasure.

Dawn has helped serve and lead in churches and non-profit organizations for over 10 years. She recently founded a book publishing company to help Christian authors self-publish their own books. After inheriting her half-brother when he was 11 years old, she raised him on her own, and he is now a sophomore in college. She resides in Houston, TX, and loves opening the blinds first thing in the mornings and the windows on pretty days.
