Healing by Kinsey Danielle

Annie Spratt

Deep cuts don’t heal with cover-ups—
Band-Aids only mask the pain.
If you want to heal, you must go through—
Under, over, around won’t do.

The longer you avoid your pain,
the more your sight goes dark in shame.
It’s hard to really know what’s real
when you start to live by what you feel.

Cast off the ropes that hold you back,
let God make up for what you lack—
to be held together when you fall apart—
to heal your broken, hurting heart.

Healing takes time and sometimes stitches,
sometimes multiple doctor visits—
but it will come and you will see
how Light breaks in and sets you free.

Kinsey is a 26-year-old aspiring writer, Pilates instructor, and counselor, having formerly taught English overseas and the sport of gymnastics throughout her college years. She has recently discovered her passion for writing poetry in her journaling and prayer life, as poetry helped her articulate the cries of her heart to the Father. In recent months, she has felt prompting from the Holy Spirit to share her poetry with others. She hopes the words formed from the depths of her heart during her time with God strengthen and encourage her readers.
