Grace like a fish by Rachel Ann Russell

Let’s suppose that somewhere hidden
in me I must have gills
A secret inside fish ready to be released

Into her true ocean
Swimming in the cold water
Skimming the soft mud

A secret fish ready to rub
Hidden words into the wet stones
Fishy eyes pleading for hope

Rachel Ann Russell is a student at Wesley Theological Seminary, who loves exploring faith and scripture in poetry.
