I vividly remember the phone call when my friend, Caitlin, told me she was pregnant with twins. The fear and uncertainty were palpable in her voice, but there was the whisper of hope, too. Her daughter was the answer to so many prayers. Years of faithfully waiting for the blessing that she wasn't sure would actually come. I knew that these boys were meant to be hers. Caitlin was destined to be the mother of these sweet souls. I encouraged her to try and see her circumstances from a "why not me, God?" mentality as opposed to "why me, God?" It was such an important reflection for us both on God's will and sovereignty over both of our journeys to motherhood. It has all been used for His glory. Talk about trading ashes in for beauty!
