open for christian non-fiction book proposals
When are you open for submissions?
At Calla Press Publishing, we are committed to publishing books that radiate truth, beauty, and goodness and point hearts toward Christ Jesus. We are currently open to NON-FICTION proposals only. We are closed to children's book queries.
What do you publish?
At our publishing house, we publish children's books, from board books to middle-grade, Christian education, as well as select Christian nonfiction and fiction titles. We do not publish poetry, self-help, or study guides at this time.
For nonfiction, we welcome proposals for devotionals and biblically grounded Christian living books that help readers grow in their faith and apply God’s Word to everyday life. We are interested in topics such as motherhood, mental health, marriage and family, arts and culture, spiritual growth, and more. All submissions must be rooted in Scripture, theologically sound, and aligned with our Statement of Faith.
For fiction, we welcome stories that reflect a biblical worldview and explore themes of faith, redemption, grace, hope, and the complexities of the human experience. We are interested in compelling, thoughtfully written fiction across genres, including contemporary fiction, historical fiction, romance, and young adult fiction. We seek stories that captivate readers, encourage spiritual reflection, and point toward the truth and beauty of the Christian faith. All submissions must be consistent with Scripture and align with our Statement of Faith as well.

KEEP IN MIND
FOR SUBMISSIONS
Manuscript
When we open for book submissions, a simple query that follows the guidelines below will suffice before we ask for a book proposal. Manusripts do not need to be completed nor do illustrations for acquiring new projects at Calla Press Publishing.
RESPONSE TIME
Please allow 6-8 weeks for us to review your initial query. If we are interested in pursuing your project, we will request a full book proposal. Our acquisition process may take an additional 6–9 months, and projects accepted for publication should anticipate a release timeline of approximately 15–17 months following acquisition.
We strongly encourage authors to consider these timelines before submitting to Calla Press Publishing, as we are not a suitable fit for writers seeking a faster path to publication. To ensure your submission receives proper consideration, please carefully review and follow all submission guidelines.
Previously published
We do not accept previously published work that has been self-published, especially through self-publishing companies. It would have to be entirely removed and not available online to consider a book query at this time.
How to Submit Your Book Query
Thank you for your interest in publishing with Calla Press Publishing. We are committed to publishing Christ-centered books that are biblically grounded, thoughtfully written, and created to serve readers with excellence. We welcome submissions from authors whose work aligns with our mission, vision, and Statement of Faith.
Please review the following submission steps carefully before sending us your work.
Step 1: Review Our Publishing Guidelines
Before submitting, please familiarize yourself with our publishing categories, submission requirements, and Statement of Faith. We are considering Christian nonfiction that aligns with our biblical convictions and publishing vision.
Please ensure your manuscript is a good fit for our publishing house before proceeding.
Step 2: Prepare Your Book Query
Your initial submission should include a professional book query in a PDF form containing the following information:
- Author information: Your name, email address, a brief biography, and any relevant writing or ministry experience.
- Book title: Your proposed title and subtitle, if applicable.
- Book category: Specify your nonfiction genre or subject.
- Book summary: Provide a concise overview of your book, including its central message, premise, or storyline.
- Target audience: Explain who your intended readers are and why your book would serve them.
- Word count: Include your current or projected manuscript word count.
- Comparable titles: List two or three recently published books within the last five years similar to yours and explain how your project differs.
- Author platform: Briefly describe your audience, online presence, ministry connections, or other relevant opportunities to reach readers.
Step 3: Where to Submit Your Query
Send your query via a simple PDF form to callabooksubmissions@gmail.com with "Book Query-"Title of Book" in the subject line. Please submit only the materials requested at this stage. Unless specifically requested, do not send a complete manuscript or book proposal with your initial query.
Step 4: Await Our Initial Review
After submitting your query, please wait 6-8 weeks for our team to review your project.
If your concept aligns with our publishing goals and we would like to consider it further, we will contact you to request a full book proposal. Due to the volume of submissions, we are not be able to provide detailed feedback on every project. If you do not hear back within 8 weeks from your initial book query submission, we have kindly passed on your query.
Please do not interpret a request for additional materials as a guarantee of publication. If you do not hear back within 6-9 months after submitting a full book proposal, please know we were unable to take on your submission.

thank you
Thank you for submitting to Calla Press Publishing! Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we cannot offer feedback at this time if we decide not to pursue publication. May God bless the work of your hands wherever it may lead.
