At The Cross by Jennifer Toscano

His Spirit leads me to the cross.
I see His wounds.
I see Him struggling to carry His cross.
My eyes look over His every scar.
The weight of His sacrifice is palpable.
The atmosphere is shifting.

My heart aches with sorrow to see Him
battered and bruised on my behalf.
I look down at His pierced feet in shame.
The darkness within me wants to swallow me whole.

But as my head is bowed low, the Spirit lifts
my chin and calls me by name.

He lifts my eyes to see the face of my Savior,
the one who gave His life for me.

He is no longer on the cross but strong and victorious.

There are tears of compassion in His eyes
and His arms are opened wide.

I see the scars upon Him that have been healed.

And as I see Him fully restored I am reminded of His promises…
that His scars will heal mine,
that His blood cleansed my sin,
that because He defeated sin and death
so shall I.

Because Jesus is whole and victorious
so am I.
