A Morning Snow by Elly Shelburne

I wake upon a fairy tale

And smell the pure and clean.

Branches wave, adorned with white,

The streets in icing sheen.

Another mug of coffee shudders

Hot against the cold.

The waking winter sun

Arises slow, bright, and old.

Elly Shelburne is a resident of Virginia, lover of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and lover of the written word. She works with the autistic community, teaching communication and coping skills through ABA therapy. Much of her free time is spent cooking, reading, or writing reflective poems on the subjects of nature, beauty, and God.
