A Blue Envelope by Gail Davidson

The artist, the chef,
the entrepreneur, the author,
the musician, the dancer,
the innovator, the designer,
the architect, the scientist,
the next-door neighbor,
the child,
do you notice how they all say the same thing:

where did I get this new idea,
you ask?
well, it just came to me,
out of the blue

Have you ever received
an envelope,
invisible to others,
but to you,
a personal invitation
in a captivating shade of blue,

its event, enticing adventure,
its details, curiously bare,
the rsvp, left wide open?

Perhaps days,
perhaps years
of passionate effort,
once you board the train of creativity
and pursue a destination,

God says,

This adventure is just for us.
Communion with me
is the pinnacle of our success.

And then he says,

There will be others at your door.
Invite them in.
There is room for more.

And intimacy blossoms
into beauty,
inspiration,
innovation,
connection,
restoration,
and healing.

Be it hobby or high calling,
he passes through heart and hands,
along with the blue envelope.

We are all invited
to create.
We simply need
to rsvp.
