Up and Down The River by Brittney Dederman

Up and down the river we go
Where it stops
Nobody knows

We are here for a moment along the calms of water
Life throws out the chaos and storms

I go along the river to pray
About life’s struggles and dismay

In Christ alone, we can walk on water
saved from our savage ways
we can be sure tomorrow will come and go
In Christ Alone, death has lost its sting

Death has no power over me

Up and down the river I go
I don’t know where I will be
But through my Lord and Savior
I will walk along the rocky shore
forever beside You, evermore

There is no easier way to live
When we realize you are the key
To everlasting eternity

Death has no grip on me
Because of Jesus our risen King

A lot of my poetry is inspired by my past experiences, my faith in the Lord, and past struggles with friends and family. Both poems provide the strength believers find in the Lord, how he helped us overcome death through Jesus Christ, and because of him we no longer have to fear death or the future. These poems mean a lot to me and I hope they bring some comfort to everyone that reads them!
