The Return by Mandi Bender

After making purification for sins,

you returned to the right hand of the Father.

After being mocked and beaten,

you return to your thrown.

After being praised, then swiftly rejected with a kiss,

you returned to glory.

You came quietly in a manger,

did the angels welcome you home with heavenly anthems?

You were raised among skeptics,

did you return to faithful worshippers?

My Savior, who is gentle and lowly, you were welcomed back with the honor you deserved, yet somehow, you still felt homesick for our hearts.

I imagine you pondering your earthly encounters as you take your seat.

Smiling at the thought of the many who believed,

hopeful for the many who soon will.

And as you exchange your crown of thorns for adornment of heavenly gems,

I image you turning to the Father and whispering,

“It is finished.”

My name is Mandi Rae Bender. I am 23 years old, currently teaching, reading, and writing in the state of Kentucky. I think there is great power in the pen when used for the glory of God. My only ambition is to magnify Christ’s name and reach as many souls as possible during my time here on earth.
