The Domino Effect vs The Savior Effect by Brittney Dederman

Stir crazy, unrest,
and then the dose of anxiety
It starts as an itch.

Astir-crazy feeling tussles up my legs,
then a fit of unrest trickles down my spine,
and finally, anxiety makes my body concave with the pressure.

It’s the domino effect.

It reaches into me,
pulls every remainder of sanity
from my sweaty pulsing head,
the weight of the pressure
becomes too much for my shaking hands.

It’s the domino effect.

Gravity taking advantage of my fear,
when my life gets shaken up, I retreat,
hide from every sound that comes out of the corners of the room.

It’s the domino effect.

But what I forget about is the Savior effect.

When I give my troubles and burdens to the Lord,
The itch stops, the unrest in your spine trickles away,
and finally, the anxiety exits my body.

I can come out of the cave.
I give it to you Lord.
I am free.
