Paint by L.C. Mayfield

Where once there was a time

When my mind’s eye was filled

With particular images and colors

Now there is an empty canvas

With greater potential

Eyes alight with the new dawn

Brush in hand ready to make the next stroke

Bold and strong enough

Forging a way forward

Heart of hope keeping fear at bay

I have been writing since I was in elementary school. I turned to poetry in my twenties, enjoying the flow of words and ways to express my thoughts and memories. My favorite thing about sharing my words is when it touches and moves someone, and it's always unexpected so humbling. I am also fond of traveling, trying new things, and drinking coffee in cafes.
