Jesus Praying for Us at the Laundromat by Steve Bell

the groceries
almost gone

the car last night
was stolen

the children
hate us without reason

the neighbors
want us dead and gone

He told us as much;
troubles will follow us
like dirty clothes.

how often we forget
and yet He prayed for us
died for us,
He takes our unbelief,
a sin we wear
with stubborn pride
stained and smelly.

He sizes us up, smiles
hands us clean clothes
“Put these on, they fit you perfect
like Me, made by my Father;
new, clean, full of faith.

You now, full of me
full of peace
fully and forever
Mine.”
