A Letter to a Younger Me by Kaylee Dahl

I must tell you -
there is a big world out there,
and you will wonder and wish to see it.

But there will come a time when
you see the little corner of the world
in which you spend most of your days -

A brick brown house
With an evergreen tree by the window,
A song bird that sits in it’s spindles,

A cramped kitchen
With just enough in the pantry
To make a soup,

A dusting of bread crumbs
Left by a toddler - tiny elbows
perched on the table -

And you will see.

Your heart will feel bigger
Then all the world could ever be.

Kaylee Dahl is a former elementary school teacher turned stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She is inspired by the beauty of this world through her young daughter’s eyes and attempts to reflect on that beauty through writing.
