Like a newborn baby, I am helpless
Always in need of a mother's caress
Incapable of protecting myself
Finding comfort only in her embrace

And whenever I open my eyes
I try to look for colors and bright lights
But when she comes and calls me her child
I know then that everything will be alright

Like a newborn baby, I may be ignorant
That people can be sad and indignant
Because I find love, joy, and satisfaction
In the place God called my home

So whenever I wake up to a brand new day
How I long for my life to be the same way
To know that I am a gift to someone
And a dream come true to a woman I call mom

Like a newborn baby, I wish I could stay
Forever in my cradle, waiting for mommy-baby play
But I have to grow up and explore the world
Learn to help myself and be my own protector

And now whenever I close my eyes
I can only imagine how time quickly flies
I am not a newborn baby, and never will I be
But I have to pretend that I am completely happy
